What is RSS?

RSS (Real Simple Syndication) is a web standard for publishing regular updates of web-based content. It allows you to identify the content you like and have it delivered directly to you. It takes the hassle out of having to go from site to site to find the latest updates.

Why would I want to use RSS?

  • RSS saves time - Department of Human Services (DHS) uses RSS to deliver the latest information about the capital development guidelines. So instead of browsing the website, RSS automatically tells you when new items are listed in each of those areas.
  • RSS puts the power in your hands - You only receive the information you are interested in. We do not collect any information—including email addresses—from subscriptions to our RSS feed.

How do I get started?

The first thing you need is something called an RSS news reader, and there are two main types of readers - installable desktop programs and web-based services.

There are many readers available. Different readers work on different operating systems, so you will need to take this into account. Some browsers, including Firefox, Opera and Safari, have functionality that automatically displays RSS feeds. For more details on these, please check their websites.

Here are some RSS news reader suggestions to get you started:

Web-based RSS readers

Desktop applications RSS readers

Windows
Apple Mac

Find other news readers at Google.

Please note: DHS are not responsible for the content of external websites.

How do I subscribe to the DHS Capital Development Guidelines RSS feeds?

Once you have installed the reader or subscribed to a web-based reader follow its instructions to subscribe to the DHS Capital Development Guidelines RSS feeds.

Copy and paste the URL(s) of the RSS feed you want into your news reader.

(Please note: Internet Explorer will not display RSS / XML files. To view the RSS / XML when using IE, right click the link or the orange button and save the RSS file to your computer. You can then open it in a text editor or other program.)
